Show Description

This show is dripping with nostalgia, with a folk-like feel throughout. From The Head and the Heart’s Rivers and Roads to The Moldau to Shenandoah, this show is uplifting, optimistic, and joyous. The opening solo is written for English horn, but can be easily rescored for another instrument. The thematic content from The Moldau is used throughout the show as a glue, and the second production goes through the different moments in Smetana’s work. The English horn returns in the third production, a straight-forward arrangement of Shenandoah. After a dark and intense section featuring the different families within the band, the final production wraps everything up, leaving your students and your audience members alike with a warm feeling.
